California Test and Balance Services

A Mechanical & TAB Contractor

Delo Air has become a staple in the test and balance industry through rigorous training and  experience on both the installation and TAB side of the HVAC industry. With upheld certifications and licensing, our team is fully capable of performing testing and balancing on a wide range of HVAC equipment including commercial air conditioning systems, restaurant exhaust hoods, laboratory fume hoods, exhaust systems, supply fan systems, and room pressure relationship balancing for laboratory and medical facilities when required.

Commercial AC Test and Balance

Commercial AC Test and Balance is a specialized verification process that confirms an air conditioning system is operating exactly as it was engineered to perform.

During this process, our certified testing and balancing technicians measure airflow, system pressures, temperatures, and outdoor ventilation rates at the equipment and throughout each conditioned space. Based on these measurements, precise adjustments are made to dampers, fan speeds, and control settings to ensure proper airflow distribution, correct outside air delivery, and stable system operation.

This service plays a key role in improving occupant comfort, reducing energy waste, and protecting HVAC equipment from unnecessary strain caused by improper airflow. Commercial AC test and balance is commonly required for new construction, major system modifications, tenant improvements, and code or inspection approvals. The final deliverable includes detailed documentation that verifies system performance, providing owners, engineers, and inspectors with confidence that the air conditioning system is operating safely, efficiently, and within design specifications for long-term reliability.

Restaurant Hood Test and Balance

Restaurant Hood Test and Balance is a specialized process that verifies commercial kitchen ventilation systems are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes.

Restaurant Hood Testing is a specialized process that verifies commercial kitchen ventilation systems are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes. During this process, certified testing and balancing technicians measure exhaust airflow, makeup air delivery, system pressures, and hood capture performance to ensure smoke, heat, and grease are being removed properly without creating negative building pressure issues.

Our certified TAB technicians make precise adjustments to exhaust fans, makeup air systems, dampers, and controls so all components work together as a balanced system. Proper restaurant hood test and balance supports staff comfort, reduces energy waste, and helps prevent common issues such as smoke escaping into dining areas or doors becoming difficult to open. This service is often required for health and fire inspections, new restaurant openings, ownership changes, and system modifications, with final documentation provided to verify performance and compliance.

Fume Hood Test and Balance

Fume Hood Test and Balance is a highly specialized service focused on verifying that laboratory fume hoods are capturing and exhausting hazardous air safely and consistently.

The technician is wearing a high-visibility safety vest and is standing in front of a fully enclosed fume hood. They are holding a handheld airflow measurement device with a circular sensing head, which is positioned inside the hood opening to measure face velocity and airflow performance. Flexible ducting and control valves are visible on the side of the hood, indicating an active exhaust and ventilation system.

Delo Air’s certified TAB technicians perform detailed airflow testing at the hood face, exhaust connections, and associated systems to confirm proper capture velocity, containment performance, and stable operation under real working conditions.

During the process, we evaluate exhaust fan performance, system pressures, and control behavior, then fine-tune airflow using dampers, ECM motors, and VFD settings to achieve safe, repeatable results without excessive energy use. Proper fume hood testing and balancing supports occupant safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term reliability of laboratory ventilation systems. Each service concludes with thorough, certified documentation that provides clear proof of performance for inspections, safety programs, and facility records.

Exhaust Fan Test and Balance

Exhaust Fan Test and Balance is a critical service that ensures exhaust systems are removing air at the correct rates while maintaining proper building pressure and overall system stability.

At Delo Air, our certified TAB technicians evaluate exhaust fan performance by measuring airflow, static pressure, motor operation, and control response to confirm each fan is operating within its designed capacity.

We make precise adjustments to fan speeds, dampers, and control settings—including ECM motors and VFDs—to achieve accurate exhaust volumes without overworking the equipment or creating negative pressure issues. Proper exhaust fan test and balance helps prevent problems such as odor migration, poor indoor air quality, and excessive energy use. Each service is completed with detailed, certified documentation, giving building owners, engineers, and inspectors confidence that exhaust systems are performing safely, efficiently, and as intended.

Supply Fan Test and Balance

Supply Fan Test and Balance focuses on verifying that supply air systems are delivering the correct airflow, pressure, and performance required to support a building’s HVAC operation.

At Delo Air, our certified testing and balancing technicians evaluate supply fans at the equipment level, measuring airflow output, static pressure, motor performance, and control response to ensure each fan is operating within its intended design range.

Our team fine-tunes fan speeds, damper positions, and control settings—including ECM motors and VFDs—so supply air is distributed evenly and efficiently throughout the system. By combining detailed field measurements with hands-on mechanical expertise, Delo Air ensures supply fan systems operate reliably, conserve energy, and support proper airflow balance across all served spaces. Each project is completed with clear, certified documentation that provides confidence in system performance and readiness for inspection or long-term operation.

Medical and Healthcare Facility Test and Balance

Delo Air provides specialized testing and balancing services for hospitals, clinics, surgical centers, and medical offices, where airflow accuracy and pressure control directly affect patient safety and facility performance.

Our certified TAB technicians carefully measure and adjust supply, return, and exhaust airflows to maintain proper ventilation rates, temperature control, and critical pressure relationships between spaces such as exam rooms, isolation areas, and support zones.

What sets Delo Air apart is our strong mechanical background paired with certified TAB expertise. If airflow issues stem from equipment setup, control sequencing, or mechanical limitations, our in-house team can address them without delay. We deliver detailed, certified reports that support inspections, compliance, and facility records, giving healthcare administrators and engineers confidence that systems are operating correctly. With Delo Air, medical facilities receive reliable test and balance services built around accuracy, accountability, and long-term system performance.

What You Receive When You Hire Our Test and Balance Company

When you go with our test and balance company, you’re choosing an all-in-house HVAC expert. Our team not only performs certified testing and balancing, but we are also fully capable of completing any required mechanical work if an HVAC contractor is not already affiliated with the project.

When you hire us for a full TAB, you will receive:

  • System Inspection – Verification that all HVAC systems are properly installed and include all required components and accessories per the mechanical design.
  • System Operation Testing – Measurement of amperages, voltages, RPMs, static pressures, belt tensions, and motor data to confirm equipment is operating within safe and approved limits.
  • Precise Airflow Testing – Accurate measurement of supply and return airflows using calibrated testing instruments. Airflow is recorded at each diffuser as well as at the total system level.
  • Airflow Adjusting – Fine adjustments are made at individual diffusers and control points to proportionally balance each room or zone according to mechanical plan requirements, helping eliminate hot and cold spots.
  • Certified Test and Balance Report – All collected data is documented and compiled into a certified test and balance report suitable for city inspections, engineers, owners, and permanent project records.
  • Optimally Functioning HVAC System – By hiring our test and balance company, you gain confidence that your system is code-compliant, operating efficiently, conserving energy, and positioned for maximum equipment lifespan without premature component failure.

What Makes A Test and Balance Contractor Certified?

For a Test and Balance Contractor to be classified as a certified TAB contractor, they need to contain both a D-62 contractors license as well as a TAB Firm Certification with either of the four allowed Certification Providers NEBB, AABC, TABB, or NCI. If the test and balance contractor has both they can legally perform Certified Testing and Balancing in the state that their contractors license is valid.

Delo Air is a fully licensed and certified Test and balance contractor and can perform all TAB services within California.
